REDCOM Selected to Develop VICTORY Audio Adapter Prototype for U.S. Army CMFF Program

Prototype will bridge legacy platform audio with CMFF digital audio as part of the Army’s NGC2 transport modernization

True success for CMFF isn't just about adhering to open standards. It's about delivering a solution that actually works for the warfighter.”

VICTOR, NY, UNITED STATES, October 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- REDCOM Laboratories, Inc. has been selected by the U.S. Army to develop a prototype multi-waveform VICTORY Audio Adapter (VAX) for the CMOSS Mounted Form Factor (CMFF) C2 Transport project, a core component of the Army's Next Generation Command and Control modernization effort. REDCOM was awarded an Other Transaction Agreement with Consortium Management Group, Inc. (CMG) on behalf of Consortium for Command, Control and Communications in Cyberspace (C5) on July 14, 2026.

Army vehicles carry decades of installed audio equipment, including intercom systems, crew headsets, and push-to-talk handsets. CMFF moves radio voice onto a modern digital card-based architecture. The VAX sits between those two worlds and allows them to work as one system.

The VAX adapter will deliver bidirectional audio and push-to-talk signaling across up to four analog interfaces simultaneously, using the VICTORY Streaming Audio interface. Each interface can be assigned to a separate CMFF radio voice net. Crews get access to modern software-defined radio capability without ripping out the audio equipment already in the vehicle.

Under the agreement, REDCOM will develop a multi-waveform VAX prototype supporting:

-Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS)
-Very High Frequency and Ultra High Frequency Line of Sight / Air Traffic Control (VULOS/ATC)
-Warrior Robust Enhanced Network Tactical Scalable Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (WREN-TSM)

The prototype adapts REDCOM's fielded radio interoperability technology to a CMFF-compatible form factor. REDCOM Sigma XRI already connects IP and RF endpoints and bridges disparate radio systems in deployed environments worldwide. Now, the VAX applies that proven engineering to the Army's modular vehicle architecture.

The Army’s FY 2027 budget documentation identifies CMFF and VAX development as part of the modernization of the NGC2 C2 Transport Layer, describing CMFF as a cornerstone of a more agile, interoperable, and data-centric communications backbone for ground and aviation platforms.

“True success for CMFF isn't just about adhering to open standards. It's about delivering a solution that actually works for the warfighter.” said Courtney Stiles, Executive Director, Customer Activities at REDCOM. “These efforts are where the rubber meets the road, and REDCOM is proud to be an active participant and contribute by providing a practical approach that turns the promise of open-standards into operational success."

About CMOSS and CMFF

The C5ISR/Electronic Warfare Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS) is a suite of open standards for integrating communications, computing, electronic warfare, and positioning, navigation, and timing capabilities aboard Army platforms.

CMOSS is the standard. CMFF is the Army's program-of-record implementation of it. CMFF uses a common ruggedized chassis already wired for power and networking, into which CMOSS-compliant cards are inserted or swapped to add mission command applications, radio waveforms, PNT, electronic warfare protection, and other capabilities. The approach eliminates the need to install separate systems, each with its own power supply, cabling, processor, and mounting hardware.

CMFF became a formal Army program of record in 2025.

VICTORY (Vehicular Integration for C4ISR/EW Interoperability) provides open specifications for connecting electronic and communications systems within military vehicles. The VAX extends that open architecture to vehicle audio.
