SEATTLE, WA, UNITED STATES, October 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Raregivers Inc. and Microsoft employee volunteers are bringing comfort to caregivers at Seattle Children’s, the hometown children’s hospital serving the community Microsoft calls home. On October 29, 2026, International Day of Care and Support, Microsoft employees attending the Microsoft People Summit will assemble 400 Raregivers Comfort Kits in honor of caregivers, for donation to Seattle Children’s and hospitals in India and Wales.

Seattle Children’s is a National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) Rare Disease Center of Excellence led by Christina Lam, MD. The kits recognize the emotional demands on families caring for children with rare, chronic and complex diseases and bring practical emotional health resources into the clinical setting.

“In the clinic, we see how deeply a child’s illness affects the whole family. Caregivers need space to acknowledge fear, exhaustion and uncertainty, alongside support for the daily work of care,” said Dr. Lam, professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and attending physician at Seattle Children’s. “These kits can help us begin that conversation and remind caregivers that their emotional health matters, too.”

“Employee volunteerism turns our shared commitment to community into something personal and tangible,” said Nathalie D’Hers, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Employee Experience. “By creating these Comfort Kits as part of our Give month activities, our employees are supporting families at our hometown children’s hospital and extending that spirit of care to caregivers around the world.”

Each kit includes the Raregivers Emotional Journey Map & Guidebook, a research-backed emotional health resource that helps caregivers understand and navigate the experiences of caregiving.

“When life gets medical, people get emotional,” said Cristol Barrett O’Loughlin, Founder & CEO of Raregivers. “Our research-backed, multilingual Emotional Journey Map & Guidebook gives caregivers language for what they are feeling and practical guidance for navigating their emotional journey. Sharing the Guidebook with an ultra-soft scarf, herbal teas, aromatherapy hand wipes, a YouTube meditation card and other sensory-self-care items in the Comfort Kit helps bring that support directly to families where care happens - in the hospital. The handwritten note of encouragement from a Microsoft employee makes our Comfort Kit a personal gift of compassion.”

Additional kits will be donated to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi and children’s services at Wrexham Maelor Hospital in Wales through the Raregivers Hospital Pathways Program.

Raregivers will also launch The Rare Truth, a global Public Service Announcement campaign with HAVAS and award-winning filmmaker Bryan Buckley, on November 10, 2026. Built around real caregiver stories, the campaign will spotlight the often-unseen emotional experience of caregiving and invite communities worldwide to recognize and support caregivers.
