DOJ Announces the Return of the Global Advisory Committee (GAC)

ASHBURN, VA, UNITED STATES, August 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- It is with great appreciation and admiration that the Chairs of the Global Advisory Committee (GAC), and the Criminal Intelligence Coordinating Council (CICC), announce that the Global Advisory Committee and its two permanent subcommittees, the Criminal Intelligence Coordinating Council (CICC) and the Global Standards Council (GSC) are being reinstituted and will continue to support the safety, security and health of the communities across our nation!! This milestone decision was made by Attorney General Todd Blanche and just announced by FBI Director Kash Patel at the recent Interstate 95 Working Group Meeting hosted by the Florida Highway Patrol and Florida Department of Law Enforcement and facilitated by the Rutgers University Miller Center on Policing and Community Resilience in Kissimmee, FL.

The GAC, CICC, and GSC have been the single most effective forum in the federal government for collaboration among federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial (FSLTT) leaders to develop national policy, standards, and solutions that enable responsible, effective information sharing across the full criminal justice spectrum. Established in 1998, Global is a ''group of groups”, representing more than 30 independent organizations, spanning the spectrum of law enforcement, judiciary, public defenders, probation, corrections, homeland security, and counter-terrorism communities to develop and promote standards-based, secure, and timely electronic information exchange. For nearly three decades, the GAC and its permanent subcommittees, the CICC and the GSC has been the single most effective forum in the federal government for federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial (FSLTT) leaders to collaboratively develop national policy, standards, and solutions that enabled responsible, effective information sharing across the criminal justice, law enforcement, homeland security, and counter-terrorism systems. Since its inception, Global has created 340 discrete deliverables that have directly improved criminal justice information and criminal intelligence sharing among the nation’s law enforcement professionals.

Sheriff Mike Milstead stated "We, and all members of the GAC, are eager to re-engage and address the existing challenges that face the safety, security and health of our nation!"
